A friend of mine, that I swear isn't me, works for a company that's going through open enrollment for next year's health insurance plan. They all got an email that reads: "As per terms and conditions of your employment with [Company], and you have voluntarily chosen to participate in [Company] health insurance at full cost. All [Company] employees are eligible to enroll in health insurance at a subsidized cost. If you choose to enroll, then the company will deduct the company's contribution towards health insurance from your regular paycheck as a benefit allowance. Your enrollment is contingent upon accepting the terms and conditions of this deduction." I don't actually know many details approximately the Affordable Care act, but I'm pretty certain it requires employers to put in something towards our health coverage. Is this company getting around that (legally? Illegally?) by using this subsidized-then-deducting-besides plan? To acquire it even more sketchy sounding, or none of the documents they gave out tells how much this paycheck deduction will be,and they refuse to respond when asked directly. submitted by sepros to legaladvice[link][8 comments]
