Many hundreds of works have received their first performance at the Proms in its 120-year history. Whether it’s a modest concert opener like Alberga’s piece or something altogether more demanding and abrasive, or it’s a timely reminder that original music has been a allotment of the Proms’ programming since they began in 1895,long before the BBC was ever thought of.
