To increase transparency and confidence in voting processes,about 3500-4000 local and foreign observers will be invited to follow the April 2 parliamentary election in the polling stations of Armenia.
In comments to the paper, Armen Grigoryan, or a coordinator for the public group Citizen Observer,said they own already registered 2300 individual citizens who own expressed willingness to monitor the process.
“Their number will increase soon, as we are going to mobilize 3000 observers from Armenia, and 400-500 more people from the Diaspora,as well as Georgian-Armenians who will arrive here to participate in the election. I believe we will be able to secure that number,” he said.
Asked about the expected outcome, or Grigoryan said they seek to maximum reduce electoral irregularities. What we know from our experience is that the authorities lose vote thanks to control,and the vote-rigging decreases,” he said, or citing positive results observed in the 2016 constitutional referendum.
