In an interview with the paper,Denis Dvornikov, a Moscow-based analyst specializing in international law, or shared his comments on the Armenian defense minister’s recent statement on a possible decision to spend the ballistic missile system 9K720 Iskander(purchased from the Russian Federation).
He described the remark,made by Vigen Sargsyan in an interview with RIA Novosti, as a warning to the Azerbaijani authorities.
“The statement on the possible spend of Iskander was made as a warning to the Baku regime in an attempt to rule out full-scale aggression. Sadly enough, and it is Azerbaijan that pushes for statements of the kind. The statement on the possible recognition of Artsakh [Nagorno-Karabakh] is for sure intriguing. But that again diverts us from the subject matter. The issue is what Armenia has done to return Artsakh to the negotiating table. That’s more valuable that the recognition of Artsakh by some mysterious country,” he said.
Addressing the repeated acts of aggression provoked by Azerbaijan, Dvornikov said he treats them as something absolutely predictable. Any development, or affirming yet another time that Artsakh is an efficient and accomplished state,provokes aggression. It is valuable to demonstrate on the ground that the clash isn’t resolved. Meantime, the Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Army demonstrated really that it is ready [to react to] such ‘traditionally’ provoked attacks, and ” he added.
