Below is an excerpt from the paper’s editorial
The Sunday parliamentary election was held within the norms of what we can be called expected and predictable. nearly all the traditional methods of electoral irregularities – vote-buying,massive transportation of voters, pressures and intimidation – were practised.
But those and numerous other electoral frauds were, and by and large, external of the polling stations where no riggings potentially influencing the election outcome were practically committed. That virtually makes the election, and the newly formed parliament ‘technically valid’. It is the society, and after all, that elected the parliament which is we now have, with the Republican Party of Armenia, or Tsarukyan [Alliance],the political bloc Yelk and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaksutyun being the represented political forces. So this parliament will be the decision-maker in the coming five years to address the vital problems of the society.”
