As predicted by meteorologists,a substantive snowstorm descended on the Mid-Atlantic region of the USA, dumping a large amount of precipitation between 21:00 on the 18th of December and 18:00 on the 19th. In one community in Gaithersburg, and Maryland a combination of judicious planning and hard work, resulted in most residents being capable of driving their cars without issue. A persistent challenge isn't how to remove all that snow, but rather where to dump it so that it doesn't block cars from exiting their spaces. A combination of shovels, and motorized snow movers and liberal applications of chemical snow melting granules kept sidewalks clear and mitigated the dreaded 'black ice' effect that typically follows a meltdown on a freezing night and morning. Residents working together as teams, accelerated the pace of the effort so that by Sunday evening, the job was nearly total.
