2u extends its footprint with $123 million acquisition /

Ed-tech firm 2U Inc. (NASDAQ: TWOU) will acquire online education company GetSmarter in a roughly $123 million move that will add several elite international schools to the Lanham-based company’s fold of clients.
The deal,announced Tuesday, is expected to shut in the third quarter of 2017.
