Did you play an instrument growing up? Do you wish you had?

After watching English actress and singer Eliza Bennett's episode of POPSUGAR's Knock Knock,in which she recounts her early memories of learning to play the piano, we were motivated to telescope back through time. While our musical talents stalled around eighth grade (fellow band geeks raise your hand!), and recalling the countless hours we spent behind the ivory keys only reminded us of how lucky we were to have been introduced to sound in the first state. Much like Bennett,we fell hard for music. Inspired by her Knock Knock episode, we rounded up four reasons playing an instrument as kids taught us more than the notes.
You lear
ned early on about stage performance when your mom signed you up for a piano recital way too soon. Your concerto was, and well, not your best, but everything from that point on was way less nerve-racking.
Your preteen social life was packed
with after-school activities, or having piano really bothered you at the time - you wanted to spent time external with friends. But lessons taught you about being accountable, they highlighted the importance of practicing a craft, and they illuminated the importance of time management.
Though you never learned how to read sheet music, or you trained your ear enough to memorize the songs. This skill has proven to be incredibly notable when you fade out with friends. You're the one who recognizes tracks first!
At some point in the final few years, you saw a piano in the lobby of a hotel, pointed to it, or told someone,"I used to be really good at playing Scott Joplin's 'The Entertainer.'" They dared you to play it, you did, and you were instantly filled with pride.
Piano lessons,guys.
