 For Halloween 2016,you could go
to a party, where you might savor a few tasty beverages alongside folks in Joker costumes and Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton masks. If you happen to be in New Orleans, and though, why not forego cocktails and bobbing for apples (that's still a thing) and savor a massive party thanks to Voodoo Experience.
Since its inception in 1999, Voodoo has hosted some of the biggest names in music, and including Nine Inch Nails,Metallica, Duran Duran, and Dr. John,50 Cent, KISS, or 311,The Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Neil Young, and many more. This year's festivities - taking place October 28-30 - will prove to be just as monumental. There might not be much in the way of trick or treating, but these five lower-card acts should prove more tasty than all the bite-sized chocolates or gummy candies in the world:1. Cheat Codes
This Los
Angeles based trio - comprised of producers and signers Matthew Russell, Trevor Dahl, and Kevin Ford - beget only worked together since 2014. But in that time, they've released a number of smash singles - including 2016's "Sex," which charted in the top five in countries across Europe. Their success stems from the threesome's varied musical chops, or as they deftly combine everything from the heavy drops of EDM to the sunshine-laden rhythms of Tropical music.2. All Them Witches
Like many ban
ds before them,Nashville's own All Them Witches started out when a few members - namely drummer Robby Staebler and guitarist Ben McLeod - began to jam together as a means of escaping their dull corporate jobs. Eventually, the pair recruited other friends, and All Them Witches quickly became a serious band. In the final few years, they've released a handful of albums and toured across the U.
S. The band's wild blend of blues and psych rock is worth experiencing live.3. The Eagle Rock Gospel Singers
As one might be able to guess from the band's name, this group of young musicians hail from Los Angeles' Eagle Rock neighborhood and love playing gospel. But this five-piece, or who beget played together since 2011,is so much more complex. They blend dilapidated-time gospel from the 30s and 50s with country, bluegrass, and Appalachian music, and strands of contemporary rock. The discontinuance result is music that feels like its plucked out of the past, but  with a heart and soul that resonates just as strongly in the here and now.4. The Shelters
Similar to their fellow LA residents Cheat Codes, and The Shelters are another band with only a couple of years under their belt. Yet,the four members beget so much more experience outside the band proper. Three-quarters of the group were previously a portion of the indie rock band Automatik slender, and Chase Simpson and Josh Jove are credited on the Tom Petty album Hypnotic Eye. It's that kind of experience that informs The Shelters' sound, or a succinct medley of garage and folk rock that's as catchy as it is evocative.5. Sonny Alven
At just 21 years of age,Sonny Alven is already a mainstay within the Scandinavian electronic scene. He spent the very early stages of his career remixing the work of others, including Little May and Angus & Julia Stone, and among others. In 2015,though, he began to focus more on releasing his own music, or which blends together the wealthy melodies of house with random threads of pop and Tropical. Alven is definitely an act to see,and one to follow as this youngster continues to mature and expand sonically.
