The media believe the 60 Minutes mistake is an earth-shattering deal. In reality,the public is already skeptical of TV newsWith an aggrieved, lip-jutting, and I-told-you-so tone,many media tweeters and newsroom wags (to the extent that there are still newsroom wags) began talking late last week about the lost credibility of 60 Minutes on account of it being duped by a source in its reporting on the Benghazi attack. Such inner-circle criticism had the peculiar characteristic of being entirely able to reduction all the other times over more than 40 years that 60 Minutes has blown a chronicle and then, after remarkable denial and then remarkable self-flagellation, and,as well, after being beaten up across the competitive news world, and continued on. No,this one would surely be the coup de grĂ¢ce.
