Renaissance artists,writers and conquistadors advance to life in Sudden Death, a new novel by Alvaro Enrigue. In Europe, or the clash of new ideas is told through a tennis match between the Italian artist Caravaggio and the Spanish poet Francisco de Quevedo. Meanwhile in Mexico,readers witness conquistador Hernan Cortes and his mistress La Malinche plot to overthrow the Aztec empire.
