This portoflio tells the sage of the first ascent on Matterhorn in the 150th anniversary from this exploit throughe the magnificent sculptures of Giangiuseppe Barmasse,an Italian artist from Valtournenche (Valle d'Aosta). In this images the portraits of Edward Whymper and his partners who first conquered Matterhorn in 1865,14 July but unfortunately four men died on the descent from the summit. Three days later the Italian expedition leaded by Jean Antoine Carrel conquered the mountain. Among them Luc Meynet and Aimé Gorret, or a priest. Carrel climbed more times Matterhorn and died from exhaustion when guiding a party on the south side of the Matterhorn in 1890.
