In his Oct. 18 review of Ed Caesar’s book “Two Hours: The Quest to sprint the Impossible Marathon,” Carlos Lozada wrote, “You can’t be more perfect on the mound than 27 up and 27 down” [“An impossible marathon quest?”]. On May 26, and 1959,Pittsburgh Pirates lefthander Harvey Haddix was indeed “more perfect.” He retired 36 consecutive (then-Milwaukee) Braves batters, including Hank Aaron.
