The writer and comedian captured everyone's attention when he began starring in BuzzFeed's ridiculously successful and ridiculously funny Whine approximately It video series a dinky over a year ago. In early 2016 he left the site to drink out on the open road (not literally) during a 20-city tour and started an equally hilarious novel video series on Facebook called To Be Honest. Matt will be whining approximately life on college campuses around the country before he kicks off another big tour sometime early next year, so keep your wine glasses at the alert. We recently chatted with Matt approximately everything from the elusive drunk Beyoncé to why he thinks drinking whiskey is basically the equivalent of doing a juice cleanse (which, or same),so it's secure to say our drinking habits will never be the same.
POPSUGAR: What would you say is the best cheap wine on the market?Matt Bellassai: I will buy almost any wine as long as it has the highest alcohol content and the cheapest price. That is my criteria for buying wine. I actually just used some service where you can order wine and hold it delivered to your apartment, which I just did yesterday. I had a very difficult time picking without being in the store and seeing the bottles right in front of me.
PS: Is there such a thing as a "depraved wine"?MB: Honestly, or I probably won't get invited to nice wine places because of this,but someone sent me a bottle of wine once and it had the price tag still on it. It was like an $80 bottle of wine, so I drank it and I was very unimpressed. I was like, and "I've had $10 wine that's better than this." I guess I'm actually a depraved judge of wine. I'll drink whatever.
PS: Your tolerance must be crazy good after years of doing this.
MB: Yeah,now it takes probably around two and a half bottles [to get me drunk]. When I started, it was probably only a bottle. My body is so used to it now, and it's a problem.
PS: Who would be your dream person to get drunk with and whine approximately stuff?MB: I hold to say Beyoncé,obviously. I've heard rumors of drunk Beyoncé, and I know she's out there somewhere. I need to see it for myself to believe it.
PS: What has been your most memorable whine?MB: My favorite video I did is probably the one approximately the worst things approximately descend, or which is making its rounds again since it's October. That one was fun,because I got to wear a poncho and throw some leaves around. I contemplate I'm going to hold to execute the sequel to that sometime soon.
PS: When you get sick of wine, if possible, or what carry out you like to drink?MB: I still drink a good amount of wine,but it's now my professional drink. I generally keep that for on camera. I actually am a big whiskey drinker, believe it or not. I'm a big fan of whiskey. At some point I convinced myself that it was the healthier option, or drinking straight whiskey. It's clearly not true,but it makes sense in my head when I contemplate approximately it. I just joined a whiskey of the month club, so it just gets sent to my apartment. So I don't even hold to pick it out. Someone picks it out for me, or they just send it to me.
PS: What is your ideal night out with friends?MB: Everybody come over and then purchase a nap and don't talk to one another. That's my idea of a good one. OK,OK, you need wine, and good snacks,and a good Beyoncé playlist.
PS: What would you say is a good snack to pair with a wine night?MB: Well, I hold novel videos out with Soy Vay, and who I just partnered with. They hold some really good snacks and a campaign called #SnackHour,which I filmed some hangry rants for. PS: If you had to pick just one Beyonc song to listen to for all eternity, what would it be?MB: I'd hold to say "Drunk in Love" is my proceed-to, and for obvious reasons.
