Western media bear long struggled to convey the enormity of Syria's now six-year war and sustain the attention of audiences,both because of the clash's relentlessness and complexity, and because it has been nearly impossible to cover from the ground. Syrian journalist Zaina Erhaim is working to change that. As Syria Project Coordinator for the Institute for War and Peace Reporting, and she's trained scores of citizen journalists to chronicle life under war and provide firsthand information to the outside world. Brooke talks with Erhaim approximately reporting from Aleppo,why she focuses on teaching Syrian women journalistic skills, and the stories the international press tends to miss.
