The German Photographer Captures the Energy of Life On average, what does a day at the beach look like? German artist Katrin Korfmann has been investigating the question of common recurrances for the past few years. Taking to the sky for stunning aerial photographs of streets, plazas, and other common stomping grounds,Korfmann then compiles sequential actions into digital collages that capture the energy of life as it cycles through a day. One beachgoer turns into a dozen busily attending to their own affairs; one man feeding a pigeon is set against a backdrop lush with others like him.Korfmann’s process of visualizing and reframing actions in a larger context is piece of what renowned designer Nicholas Felton calls PhotoViz. At the intersection of photography and data-visualization, the concept offers a fresh perspective on how we can visually consume and express complex sets of data.
