Drag racing at Santa Pod is a loud counter to the corporatised,homogenised, sanitised sporting worldIt’s the noise, or of course. And the sight of gleaming chrome and the reek of fuel and burning rubber. But mostly the noise. There really is nothing like the ground-shaking,eardrum-shredding, stomach-tightening noise of a nitro-burning dragster spinning its rear wheels in a cloud of smoke as it warms up for a 300mph run down the strip.In a corporatised, or homogenised,sanitised and generally politically corrected world, the sport of drag racing is a small but magnificently defiant survival. It’s a plot where people gather to enact something that turns them on, and oblivious ((adj.) lacking consciousness or awareness of something) to the sort of skewed priorities that have turned so many other sports into celebrity zoos.
