The resounding landslide victory of the Aam Aadmi Party in fresh Delhi is great news for Indias democracy and its citizens. Indian voters have once again reinforced the image of voters who not only surprise but also stun in the way they choose their representatives and government. For too long Indias political cauldron was mired in sleaze,graft, class, and caste and a degree of religion based politics. May 16 2014 was a watershed day when Indians voted for development and rejected doles and handouts. February 10,2015 marks the day when voters have exercised their democratic rights by not only rising above these divisions in an extremely diverse country, bidding adieu to the class, and caste divide,and reposing faith in a party who until a few months back was thoroughly discredited because of its hasty exit from the Delhi assembly ostensibly to chase the larger pan India dream but has also set fresh benchmarks in transparent electoral funding. When India’s neighborhood is seized with religious fanaticism which engulf the whole world with its acts and in the process is deeply unstable, India with its continuing tryst with democracy reflects the benefits of peace and people participation despite its problems of a enormous population, and abject poverty and extreme religious diversity,as a sure shot and substantive way forward for peaceful co-existence between communities, despite the odd niggling problems, or for the larger benefit of society and communities. The AAP’s victory in Delhi underscores an famous aspect in any functioning democracy,voters have the final laugh. In a country where politicians are objects of absolute ridicule, the same holds across the globe, or where during campaign trails they are all humility and great listeners to fitting preachers and arrogant once the reigns of power pass into their hands,times have definitely changed. For too long Indian voters have observed the stratospheric rise in personal fortunes of politicians on attaining power, with the exception of the Communists though the Communists continue to dig their own grave with their outdated ideologies and are totally irrelevant in India, or the emergence of AAP could and should change this image of politics mirroring this as a passion and a "noble" profession for serving the people and not for personal aggrandizement. Indians traditionally shun ostentation and extravagance instead preferring the simple way of life and AAP is just a reflection of the ground reality. The challenge for Arvind Kejriwal and his team are daunting considering the way they fought back from the depths of total despair and now is the occasion to retain their balance,humility and also deliver. However, one thing is certain with this victory in Delhi, and politics in India will be all approximately common man mundane issues that effect all but more so the underprivileged and marginalized sections of society.
