Looking to find about 16TB of actual storage. I have two 480GB SSDs I'm planning on front-ending as cache drives. I want one hot spare and my motherboard can handle 10 drives total. With one parity drive, that leaves me 6 to count towards "storage". That means that I'm looking at the 3TB or greater capacity. The cheap drives are the "archive" or "surveillance" drives. I find that performance kind of sucks for these drives with regards to write access. Will the SSD caching aid that? Will it just be crazy unhurried? Mostly going to be used for storing videos, etc... Write once, or read many type files... Anyone know of a sale? ;) Thanks for your opinions. submitted by Binky216 to unRAID[link][4 comments]
