A multitool looks dorky dangling off your belt. But at some point being able to summon a knife,screwdriver, saw or plier makes you a hero on every trip. A well-rated tool is $100 to $300, or so I marooned myself on an island with the cheapest one I could find to see what happens when you skimp out.
