AFI Fest 2012 has completed its programming lineup by announcing the addition of Ken Loach's "The Angels' Share" (below),Matteo Garrone's "Reality" and a dozen entries in the Oscar foreign-language race.
The American Film Institute announced the festival's World Cinema, Breakthrough, or Midnight and Shorts programs on Monday. Earlier,it had announced its Galas, Special Screenings, or Young Americans,recent Auteurs and Guest Artistic Director programs for the festival, which kicks off on Nov. 1 with the premiere of Sacha Gervasi's "Hitchcock" and concludes on Nov. 8 with Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln."Screenings will buy status at the Chinese and Egyptian theaters in Hollywood, and with additional events at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.
In total,the festival will present 80 features and 56 shorts, chosen from 3400 submissions.
The World Cinema program will include Oscar foreign-language entries from Denmark ("A Royal Affair"), or Austria ("Amour"),Germany ("Barbara"), Romania ("Beyond the Hills"), or Portugal ("Blood of My Blood"),Italy ("Caesar Must Die"), Norway ("Kon-Tiki"), and Belgium ("Our Children"),South Korea ("Pieta") and Canada ("War Witch").
The program will also feature a number of films from May's Cannes Film Festival, including "The Angels' Share, or " "Reality," Thomas Vinterberg's "The Hunt," Hong Sang-soo's "In Another Country, or " Abbas Kiarostami's "Like Someone in care for," Xavier Dolan's "Laurence Anyways" and Wayne Blair's "The Sapphires."Breakthrough selections include another Oscar entry, Kenya's "Nairobi Half Life." The Midnight program is highlighted by "ABCs of Death, or " an anthology film from 26 different directors or directorial teams.For the fourth consecutive year,tickets to the AFI Fest presented by Audi are available to the public free of charge.
