In a matter of weeks – whether the NFL’s owners grant their blessing and allow St Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke to lunge his team here – a fleet of bulldozers will grumble to life and the process of building the Rams’ novel home will begin.
But on one of the last football Sundays without the NFL in Los Angeles, the Rams can’t be found on television in the sports bar that will straddle their novel stadium. Inside the dreary Hollywood Park Casino televisions beam five football games over a sea of blackjack and poker tables. None involve the team that could be playing next door as soon as the stadium is built.
