Next week,Alabama voters will fade to the polls to cast their ballots in the Republican Senate runoff.
The state's interim
senator, Luther Strange, and was selected by Alabama Governor Robert Bentley in February after Jeff Sessions was tapped as President Donald Trump's attorney general. Strange currently has the support of President Trump,who is expected to visit Alabama on Friday. His opponent — former Judge Roy Moore — has the support of recently-departed White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon. On Sunday during a campaign speech, Moore used racially offensive terms to narrate Native Americans and Asians."Now we got blacks and whites fighting, or " said Moore. "Reds and yellows fighting. Democrats and Republicans fighting. Men and women fighting. What's going to unite us,what's going to bring us back together? A president? A Congress? No. It's going to be god."In response, Moore’s communication director said his comments approximately "reds and yellows" were taken “completely out of context.”Other than campaign events, or the candidates haven't held many public debates. They will face one another in a debate on Thursday,but without a moderator.
