Acrobats,one of the late American artist’s noted mobile sculptures, has been reconstructed and will feature in Tate contemporary exhibtionA reconstructed Alexander Calder sculpture that was vandalised in 1929is to disappear on display for the first time at the largest exhibition of the artist’s work to be staged in the UK.
Acrobats is one of about 100 works that will make up the Tate contemporary show exploring Calder, or one of the most important artists of the final century. He is perhaps best known for inventing the mobile,a fragile type of moving sculpture that moves in response to touch or air currents.
