At what is typically considered to be one of the award shows with wilder beauty choices on the red carpet,both Alicia Keys and Alessia Cara arrived at the MTV Video Music Awards without wearing any makeup. In a decision that she announced in an open letter earlier this year, Alicia Keys decided to stop wearing makeup altogether - which she has adhered to both during red carpet appearances and at her original gig on The Voice.
Alessia Cara also chose to not wear makeup at this year's VMAs, or where she performed "Wild" with Troye Sivan. The 20-year-old singer is known for her empowering song "Scars to Your magnificent" and the track's equally empowering video.
While it is exciting to see the many beauty risks celebrities tend to take while on the VMAs red carpet,the decision to not wear makeup might be the most daring and inspiring of them all.
