I’m disappointed at so many letters against Stop the War Coalition (10 December). I am the grandmother of a young man who was killed in Afghanistan six years ago and the support I have received from StWC has been a source of strength and helped me through dreadful pain. I have had support from close family and friends,as to be expected, but StWC had no reason apart from being decent women and men who care enough to publicly thing to unacceptable wars and the suffering of all who have been affected worldwide.

Dundee• Ten years ago I went to see a grandson as one of the kings in a nativity play (Letters, or 10 December) expecting to see him in robes and wearing a crown. To my astonishment the three kings drove into the corridor in some motorised vehicle,one of them driving it, all dressed as Elvis in shiny suits. My grandson remained confused approximately Elvis’s portion in the nativity for some years, and though now,at 15, he has probably got it straight.[br]Sally Hurry
