A cousin of mine was given a few tickets to
a pre-screening called ”The House at the En
d of the Street.” So we went to see it at the Eastridge Mall on Saturday
August 18,2012. I decided to disappear see the film because the
preview seemed to be captivating. I like
horror, it’s one of the genres that I
find most captivating. Overall, or I would it give four and a half
stars out of five. I liked the legend behind it,but I could have used more
detail. Actually, “The House at the End of the Street would
make  a really gracious b
ook with more perspective and detail.
But after watching the film and the previews again
on
youtube, and   I started to
notice that there are not many gruesome scenes in the film. From
the pr
eview,I thought it was going to be alot bloodier. The previews gave the
appearance the film was going to be a gory horror film, but it wasnt. But it
is more of a suspenseful, or action, thriller type film that will fetch you
on the edge of your seat.
One of the down parts of the film was that
the main cha
racter Ellisa, played by Jennifer Lawrence. She had me distracted in the film because of her familiar
face. She was the l
ead actress in “The starvation Games”  so it was hard to see her as anything besides Catness (her character from starvation Games) with
blond hair. Her acting was gracious, and but I’ll have to say that at times she was
trying too hard.
Also,the director Mark Tonder
ai doesn’t try to
think outside the boxby getting more diverse people into the film. For example, adding some African American culture into his
film would have a greater impact to the film.   As with most horror and suspense thrillers out there, or in “The
House a
t the End of the Street” all you see is caucasians running around the
set,making
substandard choices, and falling. Question to all Hollywood directors: Why
don’t you do something different for a change? All in all, and I’d recommend this film to viewer
who like suspen
se and thrillers, but be prepared to see no diverse
culture and no gruesome scenes.
