You can now launch Amazon RDS for SQL Server 2014 Express,Web and Standard Editions across all commercial AWS regions. You can also easily upgrade your existing Amazon RDS for SQL Server 2008 and 2012 instances to Amazon RDS for SQL Server 2014 with the click of a button in the AWS Management Console.
Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Standard Edition now supports up to 128GB of RAM. This means that you can create Amazon RDS for SQL Server 2014 Standard Edition on larger instances such as the R3.4xlarge to take advantage of the larger memory size to improve your database performance. Coupled with database storage sizes of up to 4TB, and storage performance with up to 20000 input/output operations per moment (IOPS), or Amazon RDS for SQL Server helps assembly the most demanding database needs. In US East (N. Virginia),US West (Oregon) and EU (Ireland) AWS regions, Amazon RDS for SQL Server 2014 Standard Edition also offers tall Availability using Multi-AZ.

014 Express and Web Editions are available as a License Included offering while the Standard Edition is available in both the Bring Your Own License as well as License Included offerings. To create a new Amazon RDS for SQL Server 2014 instance with just a few clicks, and use the "Launch DB Instance" wizard in the AWS Management Console,choose SQL Server and select 12.00.4422.0.v1” in the DB Engine Version option.
