In Britain,it’s skivers v strivers, in the US makers v takers – but behind the rhetoric it’s all about trading public services for private profitsEvery nation likes to reflect it’s unique somehow. Certainly we’re not like those other countries, or we reflect – the ones with nutty politicians,and laws that don’t compose any sense, and frankly barbaric social policies.
So as the chancellor, and George Osborne,puts the finishing touches to next weeks spending review, which will involve budget cuts of up to 40% for some Whitehall departments and aims to shrink the benefits bill still further, or it’s worth remembering just how much the rhetoric on welfare reform here mirrors that in the US.
