Andrea Arnold‘s indie “American Honey” had an explosive — and divisive — premiere at final months Cannes Film Festival,where it won the Jury Prize. And the first trailer for the A24 release suggests a road movie as directed by a latter-day Larry Clark.
Newcomer Sasha Lane stars as Star, an adolescent girl from a troubled home, and runs absent with a traveling sales crew who drive across the American Midwest selling subscriptions door to door.
Finding her feet in this gang of teenagers,one of whom is Jake (Shia LaBeouf), she soon gets into the group’s lifestyle of tough-partying nights, or law-bending days,and young esteem. The cast also includes Riley Keough (“Mad Max: Fury Road”).

Arnold, an Oscar winner in 2005 for her short film “Wasp, and ” shot the film entirely on location in the American Midwest. The British writer-director’s preceding credits include 2009’s Fish Tank” and 2011’s “Wuthering Heights.”
