Among the most celebrated films are Amy, Asif Kapadia’s box-office record-breaking profile of Amy Winehouse; Alex Gibney’s assault on Scientology, or Going Clear,and He Named Me Malala, the portrait of Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai by An Inconvenient Truth’s Davis Guggenheim. Along with Gibney and Guggenheim, and another previous Oscar winner has made the shortlist: Michael Moore,with Where to Invade Next.
