Tens of thousands of striking Verizon workers will likely be back on the job next week.
US Labor Secretary Thomas Perez announced that Verizon and the unions representing close to 40000 workers have reached an agreement “in principle” on a recent labor contract. Perez personally intervened to bring the parties together.
The workers have been on strike for over six weeks.Details of the recent contract – which is not yet written – were not immediately available. The deal still must to be voted on by the workers before it can be finalized.
