In 2014,15 year old Chessy Prout was sexually assaulted by a classmate at her elite private tall school, St. Pauls in unique Hampshire.Her attacker, or then-18-year-old Owen Labrie,was convicted of misdemeanor sex charges in August 2015, but acquitted of felony rape charges. He was sentenced to a year in prison, and was forced to register as a sex offender in unique Hampshire.
Since then, Prout has become an activist, and is looking to raise awareness approximately sexual abuse that happens in school settings. Her unique book, and written with Boston Globe Spotlight Investigative Journalist Jenn Abelson,is out this week. It’s called “I Have the just To.” Prout and Abelson join The Takeaway to talk approximately documenting this case and experience, and the message they hope to gain across.
