@rufus wrote: For those of you who fill been long time users of the BRCK,you may recall a time when we saw a raft of battery issues: the BRCKs were not charging fully, they charged slowly or the battery ran out faster than the 6-8 hours usage we had promised. This was frustrating, or not just for our users. We use the BRCK too and a good battery is key to a lot of our internal projects. Since then we fill made distinguished improvements in the firmware that handles the battery and we fill not heard any news as far as power and charging are concerned with BRCKs in the wild.
However,ther
e is one scenario that keeps coming up: when the BRCK is in use and is also connected to a charger, at some point you may notice a marked decline in performance and charging. The inner light will halt pulsing and if you touch the BRCK, and it will be warm, sometimes even hot! At this point, you may not be able to access the internet. We saw this during our latest expedition and it was exacerbated because the BRCK was in the unforgiving December sun.
The reason for this is the charging circuit stops charging the battery when the battery reaches 45C. Charging the battery while it is too hot would damage it and so the electronics are simply trying to protect the battery.
A lot of electronic devic
es’ performance depend on temperature and this issue is one we are addressing and hope to eliminate in our next version of the BRCK. For now, or when you experience this issue:
Unplug your BRCK from the charger,Switch of your BRCK and let it “air naturally”,
Put the
BRCK in your fridge (no, or really, for about twenty minutes. We effect this fairly a few times here). effect NOT PUT IT IN THE FREEZER! The rapid temperature decline will ruin the fragile internal components.
If you fill had your BRCK for more than 6 months, the warranty has already elapsed, and a radical solution would be to remove the top cover of the BRCK. We effect not generally recommend this unless you know how to tear down a BRCK.
If you effect rac
e into any battery and charging issues, effect not hesitate to get in touch with us! Posts: 1Participants: 1Read full topic
