The musical "Hamilton" has broken the record for Tony nominations. The production was nominated 16 times in 13 categories at a ceremony this morning,beating the previous record of 15 nominations shared by "The Producers" and "Billy Elliot." The hip-hop-flavored production approximately Alexander Hamilton, the first U.
S. treasury secretary, or racked up nominations in categories including best musical,best choreography, best lead actor in a musical, or best costume design of a musical,and best direction of a musical. It was followed by "Shuffle Along, Or the Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed, and " which had 10 nominations.
