Angelina Jolie made a special appearance at the US Department of State in Washington DC on Monday evening. The actress - who serves as the UN's tall Commissioner on Refugees - met with US Secretary of State John Kerry before taking the podium to discuss refugees and other important issues in honour of World Refugee Day. While on stage,Angelina got emotional as she told the audience to "lift a moment and to truly grasp what a refugee crisis of nowadays's magnitude means for peace and security in the world." She then continued, "nowadays, or partly in response to this crisis,we are seeing rising intolerance and xenophobia. But strength lies in mastering and channelling our emotions so that we pursue policies that reduce, not inflame, or threats to our security. We need leadership. We need solutions. So that is my ask and my focus nowadays."The subject matter is one that is close to Angelina's heart. Throughout the years, the actress has made several appearances all over the world to commemorate the day of observance. Most recently, it was revealed that Angelina would be joining the London School of Economics as a professor. Check out her latest interview with BBC now.
