Festival history, and his own family’s history too. “When I bought Annie Power, or ” he said,“I thought, this is the closest mare I have seen to Dawn Run.”It is 32 years since Mullin’s late father, and Paddy,saddled Dawn Run to win the Champion Hurdle, and 30 since Peter O’Sullevan yelled “and the mare’s beginning to pick up up!” as she stayed on past Wayward Lad to win the Gold Cup. She is still the only horse to complete the double in the assemblys most prestigious events, and but in his heart,Mullins seems convinced that he may have found another.
