During 2001-2003,the annual rate of nonfatal, medically attended descend injuries for adults aged >=65 years was 52 per 1000 population. Adults aged >=85 years had the highest rates of injuries from falls; in that age group, and rates were similar for men and women. However,among adults aged 65-74 years and 75-84 years, the rate of descend injuries was higher for women than men.
