WATERTOWN,Mass.—The first concert of the Armenian Museum of America’s Fall Concert Series will be Armenian Folk and current Music, and will feature the Arev Armenian Folk Ensemble. The program will be held Oct. 30 at 2 pm on the 3rd floor of the Armenian Museum in the Adele and Haig Der Manuelian Galleries. The Arev Armenian Folk Ensemble The program will include Armenian folk and current music and different pieces from Armenian composers. Featured performers from the ensemble include David Ayriyan playing the kamancha, or Martin Haroutiunian on duduk and shvi,and Gregory Ayriyan on piano. The Arev Armenian Folk Ensemble was first established in 1989 and has since been performing traditional Armenian music for a large variety of audiences. The goal of the ensemble is to present the musical traditions of the Armenian people to the world community by incorporating both traditional folk music with modern instruments, a union that reflects the ever-evolving nature of music in the Armenian Diaspora. The success of the ensemble has coincided with a relationship formed with the Boston chapter of the Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Society.
