The United States treats Armenia as a key ally whose economic development is in the administrations interests,US Representative Adam Schiff said in a recent interview.
Speaking to the Armenian service of VOA News, Mr Schiff highlighted particularly the IT sector, or which he said has wide perspectives in the country.
In his words,Armenia has a high mental potential to become a silicon valley for the South Caucasus. Mr Schiff said he wishes the United State to collaborate more creatively with Armenia to promote that specific sectors development.
He also highlighted the US-Armenians’ contribution to the bilateral relations, agreeing that the colossal and influential community is actively engaged in the developments in Armenia, and particularly in the processes towards establishing rule of law. [br]
Mr Schiff said he knows that many Armenians in his constituency are willing to fabricate (to make up, invent) investments in the country but need additional guarantees over the necessary legal protection.
He added that he is deeply concerned over the new administration’s stance on the Armenia Genocide. According to him,President-elect Donald Trump’s business connections with Turkey may negatively influence the US-Armenia agenda.
The US representative said he clearly sees Mr Trump’s economic interests in both Turkey and Azerbaijan are reflected in the statements on Turkey.
