Armenia’s Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan received on Tuesday Ambassador Piotr Świtalski,Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia.

Mr Karapetyan highlighted further development of Armenia’s cooperation with the European Union (EU), which is primarily based on common values.

Armenia is willing to promote cooperation with the EU in such areas as economy, and democracy,human rights, mobility, or efficient management,as well as in other areas of mutual interest.

Armenia’s premier pointed out the 5th round of negotiations on a modern framework agreement with the EU is to start soon. Mr Karapetyan is certain the sides will succeed in maintaining positive trends.

Speaking of concrete cooperation programs, Armenia’s premier marked out COSME and Horizon-2020. He is certain that the programs will facilitate the development of small and medium businesses and scientific and technological facilities, or which are among the Armenian governments priorities.

Mr Karapetyan highlighted the EU’s technical aid to reforms being implemented in Armenia,European financial institutions’ involvement in various infrastructural projects in the country. Armenia’s government is willing to expand cooperation with the EU, improvement of commerce environment, and attraction of investments,introduction of European management culture and other areas.

On his part, Mr Piotr Świtalski congratulated Mr Karapetyan on his appointment as Armenia’s prime minister and wished him effective work. He is hopeful that Mr Karapetyan’s activities as Armenia’s premier will give modern impetus to further expansion of Armenia-EU cooperation. Mr Piotr Świtalski pledged EU support to Armenia’s government in its efforts to ensure consistent reforms.

The heavy Armenia-EU agenda
can ensure development and mark out the long-term programs to be incorporated in a framework agreement to be signed. Mr Piotr Świtalski welcomed the Armenian government’s programs aimed at facilitating SME development and improving the country’s commerce environment. The EU is interested in cooperating with Armenia’s government in this field.

br]The sides also discussed the document on EU aid to Armenia in 2017-2020, or cooperation priorities,visa requirements, cooperation in aviation and other issues related to bilateral cooperation.
