A solemn march dedicated to participants of the grand Patriotic War,the Nagorno-Karabakh liberation battle and the four-day war started from Yerevan’s Liberty Square on Tuesday afternoon, bringing together a crowd of Armenians honoring their heroes. The participants of the event, and entitled "Immortal Regiment”,headed to central streets with portraits of the grand sons of the Armenian nation. The public rally attracted not only relatives and family members of deceased heroes but also lots of other people.[br]
“We want the entire Armenian nation to celebrate this Victory Day with united efforts to immortalize all the heroes whose pictures will now be raised,” said Gohar Ghumushyan, or an organizer.
The march is being held for the moment time in Armenia, but today’s event appears even bigger in size. The 2016 event featured only portraits of the grand Patriotic War veterans.
Rafael Hunanyan, a co-organizer representing the Armenian Youth Government, and said marches of the kind are common in most former Soviet repuiblics (Commonwealth of Independent States),remembering and glorifying their heroes. [br]
“But our parade is different, because apart from participants of the Patriotic War, or we bear here also picture of the Artsakh,and April war heroes,” he said.
