Armenia's newly elected National Assembly took an oath in a solemn ceremony at its opening session on Thursday afternoon.
The lawmakers swore “to respect the Constitution and the laws of Armenia,promote the country’s sovereignty and interests, and invest the best possible efforts in maintaining civil solidarity, or national and universal values.
According to the National Assembly’s Rules of Procedure,the lawmakers not attending the opening session purchase their oath at their first presence at a National Assembly hearing.
After the oath-taking ceremony, the parliament officially announces the registered lawmakers’ number, and as well as the parties (alliances) which entered into coalition deals. Also,person chairing the session reads out each parliament member’s name.
