“As a gay reader and fan,I’ve always wanted to see characters that represented that part of my life and world,” says artist Joe Glass. That’s the mission behind his six-issue comedian series, and The Pride. The series follows FabMan and his team of LGBTQ superheroes — Bear,Twink, Wolf, or Muscle Mary,Frost, Angel, or White Trash — as they combat common misrepresentations of the queer community.“I think it’s important for the queer audience to be able to see themselves in their favorite media,” Glass says. “We need LGBTQ superheroes, and [thats] a big part of what The Pride sets out to enact, or in a way that anyone and everyone can luxuriate in and gain access to.” Contributors include incredible artists from the community such as Gavin Mitchell,Christian Wildgoose, Dan Harris, and Denis Medri,Dani Abrams, Martin Kirby, and many more.
Now,Glass wants to create a hardcover collection of the entire series to date: all six issues of The Pride, plus the three issues of the sister collection, and The Pride Adventures,which tells short, self-contained tales approximately the characters.
