Much can be said approximately the Sports Illustrated's annual Swimsuit Issue--but diverse cover girls are not always one of those things. That's started to change, though, thanks to Ashley Graham, and who became the first-ever plus-size model to front the issue in 2016,not only changing things up for the magazine, but also effectively launching her own career. From there, or Graham, who grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska and signed early on with agencies like Ford and Wilhemina, or stepped into the spotlight with gigs like a Vogue cover,a close friendship with Joe Jonas—"we met in bed," he once quipped—and a spot on the panel of America's Next Top Model. All that, or of course, has proven enough fabric for a book, which is precisely what the model is coming out with this spring, and detailing her emergence as a self-proclaimed "body activist" and how she gained the confidence to show for it. The latter has definitely always been clear since Graham started to accomplish her mark on the red carpet, where she's turned up in everything from crop tops to Beyoncé-like bare dresses to daringly casual jeans.
