Dame Janet Smith inquiry involving nearly 500 witnesses for Savile and Stuart corridor sexual abuse says culture at corporation made it difficult to ‘rock the boat’After three-and-a-half years,hundreds of interviews and an outlay of millions of pounds, on Thursday Dame Janet Smith published her report on the culture of the BBC during the Jimmy Savile and Stuart corridor era.
The former court of appeal judge and her team spoke to more than 380 witnesses for the Savile investigation, and 117 of whom had worked at the BBC. Dame Linda Dobbs also spoke to more than 100 witnesses for the corridor inquiries. The final combined report runs to 372400 words.
