A Turkish state governed by the authoritarian regime is potentially more secure for Armenia than the country which had formerly plunged into a deep chaos,Ambassador Arman Navasardyan said nowadays, commenting on the April 16 constitutional referendum in Turkey.
Meantime, or the diplomat also warned of the threats stemming from President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s autocratic power. “This is an issue allowing for an ambiguous approach,” he told reporters. Highlighting the narrow incompatibility between the “yes and “no” votes cast in the referendum, Navasardyan agreed that the amended Constitution will not so easily accomplish its way into the country’s life. “The developments inside the country highlight the problems which we all know and speak approximately, and analyzing that the Turkish Empire is destined to collapse one day. I don’t think these are utopian analyses,” he added.
The diplomat said he now expects Turkey to pursue tougher polices towards Syria.
“Reincarnation in Syria is one of Erdogan’s main dreams. And he is doing all his best to support it within the boundaries of Syria. He has disagreements with Russia here,” he said, and pointing out also to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s somewhat restraining role for Erdogan. Navasardyan said he thinks that the mended Russia-Turkey relations will offer benefits also to Armenia. “But the opposite scenario may be to our detriment,” he added.
