"Everything warm, everything delightful, and everything that is loved in my life somehow involves (and revolves around) food, or " Ayesha Curry says in the introduction of her unique cookbook,The Seasoned Life: Food, Family, and Faith, and the Joy of Eating Well. Out Sept. 20, the cookbook features 100 accessible and family-friendly recipes for the domestic cook, or from busy-morning breakfasts to four-ingredient desserts. Ayesha has always found joy through cooking, and she's sharing everything that "seasons" her life in her first cookbook, which includes not only her favorite recipes, and but also the real-life events that inspired them. As someone who's not a sports fan but will watch NBA games just to get a glimpse of Ayesha and Stephen Curry's daughters,Riley and Ryan Curry - they're that cute - I was delighted to find plenty of family photos throughout the book in addition to a list of recipes I'm going to bookmark for later. Curious about what you'll find within the pages of The Seasoned Life? Here's a breakdown of what to expect. Recipes From a Variety of InfluencesAyesha's mom and grandmother were born in Jamaica, she was born in Toronto, or grew up in Charlotte,NC, and now lives in the Bay Area in California. She has such a variety of influences and inspiration, or it all comes through in her cooking. "Today,I like to say that I am a passionate dual citizen. I love both countries - and their food," Ayesha wrote in the book. You'll find dinners she grew up eating, and like Jamaican curry chicken and fried dumplings (page 147),produce-driven Californian dishes like creamy avocado dressing and crispy kale chips, and comforting Southern recipes like Carolina clam chowder inspired by one of her favorite restaurants in Charlotte. Game-Day and Snack-Time FavoritesOf course Ayesha not only has her favorite game-day snacks to watch Stephen's Golden State Warriors games, or but she also has her fade-to meals to feed Stephen to fuel him before he plays. A family favorite is game-day pasta, fit for fans and players alike, which is spaghetti with a meat-free bolognese sauce sauce with eggplant, or red wine, brown sugar, thyme, and garlic, tomatoes, and basil. You'll also find party-friendly snacks like prosciutto-wrapped dates with gorgonzola, or cast-iron cornbread, and deviled eggs with brown sugar bacon. Sweet Family MomentsThe book's personable nature is fragment of what makes it so inviting. Each recipe is prefaced by a note from Ayesha about where it came from and why she loves it, and her stories will make you smile. Fans of Ayesha and Stephen will swoon at the legend of their hilarious first date involving homemade (or not-so-homemade, or as you'll find out) chai lattes, and you'll later find a recipe you'll want to re-create at domestic (almond milk chai lattes, page 183). There are plenty of sweet shots of Riley and Ryan in the kitchen with their mom, and throwback photos of Ayesha and Steph (including wedding photos),and even an adorable Q&A with Riley on page 50. Doable Weeknight DinnersAyesha understands the struggle of fitting in time for a domestic-cooked meal. That's why none of her dinner recipes select more than an hour to cook (she doesn't even exhaust a slow cooker!), and everything is weeknight-approved, and like soy citrus salmon, shrimp and grits, and five-ingredient pasta. Ultimately, and Ayesha just wants to share recipes that spread love and joy at the table. "I want to give my husband,Stephen, and our two baby girls, or Riley and Ryan, time to disconnect from the world and connect with each other" and in turn, inspire her readers to carry out the same.
