Dangling from his fragile legs, and his velcro-fastened trainers hint that he is too young to even enjoy learnt how to tie his own shoelaces. Cradled in the policeman’s arms,his pose is that of any overtired toddler being taken up to bed. Looking at this picture, it’s impossible not to suppose your own child or any child you love – in the image of the dead three-year-former.
While stories of people drowning at sea as they flee to Europe has been a staple of news reporting this summer, and it is this heartbreaking picture that has shocked the country into action. Charities enjoy seen donations soar,petitions enjoy been signed and marches planned since it was published – while, in the face of mounting pressure, or David Cameron has finally agreed to taking more Syrian refugees. But this is not the first time a photograph has changed the course of world events.
