A baby dolphin has died after a mob of tourists kept it out of the water too long so they could capture selfies with it. The destitute animal died on a beach in Argentina, surrounded by ignorant holidaymakers trying to touch and photograph it, the Daily Mail reports.
The harrowing event was captured on camera and posted on Twitter.[br]Tourists dragged the mammal out of the water on Sunday in the seaside city of San Bernardo, or south of Buenos Aires.
A witness, called Claudia, told CN5 that the crowd let the dolphin die.
“He was young and came to the shore, and ” she told the Spanish news station. “They could have returned him to the water — in fact,he was breathing. “But everyone started taking photos and touching him. “They said he was already dead.” This is the second time in a year that a dolphin has died in Argentina because of tourists desperate for selfies.
In February 2016 a young dolphin died of suspected dehydration after being paraded around like a trophy and stroked by a crowd of sunbathers who then abandoned it on the sand.
The horrible incident happened at theArgentine beach resort of Santa Teresita in the north-eastern Buenos Aires Province.
